OTT Gothic Lolita: #4

OTT Gothic Lolita: #4

In this post, I'll be continuing what I did in the last post and be going over even more elements of the OTT gothic lolita aesthetic.

Gowns: Dresses designed to resemble gowns are appropriately aristocratic for the gothic aesthetic, and their elaborate style is very over-the-top. Bonus points if the dress resembles the clothing of an aristocratic vampire.

Luxurious fabrics: A simple way to make outfits more dramatic and over-the-top is by using luxurious fabrics, such as velvet, damask, silk (or silk-like fabrics), and lace.

Fancy black clothing: Black is the color most strongly associated with goth clothing, so fancy clothing in black is very appropriate for OTT gothic lolita. Examples would be fancy black skirts with the bell-like lolita silhouette and fancy black blouses.

Coats: Wearing a fancy coat over a gothic lolita outfit is an easy way to make it more OTT. The coat can be won closed and buttoned or open and unbuttoned. Bonus points for wearing the coat over your shoulders like a cape.

Layers: Adding layers to an outfit makes it more elaborate and over-the-top. Examples would be jackets, epaulets, belts with skirt panels, overskirts, stand-up collars, and even overdresses (worn over a dress or a skirt).
