In my last post, I talked about elaborate gothic prints. While elaborate prints are part of the over-the-top aesthetic, they're not the only part. Now, I'd like to talk about some other elements of the OTT gothic lolita style.
Blouses: Ruffled blouses are appropriately fancy and aristocratic for OTT gothic lolita. Frilled blouses provide a touch of aristocratic elegance, and are the perfect complement for jumper skirts (skirts with suspenders),
If the ruffles still aren't fancy enough, you can add a jabot (a frill worn at the front of the neck).
Tights: The tights worn with an outfit can also make it more dramatic and stylish. Good choices for the OTT gothic lolita style are opaque tights with a print that has a gothic motif, lace tights (perfect for an aristocratic appearance), or even solid black tights (not as obviously fancy, but sophisticated and complement clothing that already has a print).

Jackets: Adding layers to an outfit is a good way to make it more over-the-top. Jackets can also be worn over a jumper skirt in place of a blouse under the jumper skirt, creating the appearance of a blouse and skirt that way.
Petticoats: Petticoats give lolita dresses their distinct bell-like shape, so OTT gothic lolita outfits would definitely include petticoats. Appropriate petticoats would be ones with fancy fabrics, trimmings, dramatic flaring shapes, or that are long enough to flutter out beneath the skirt.

Honestly, the black petticoats are so beautiful and elegant that they could be worn as skirts in and of themselves, not just under a dress or skirt. It would be an atypical choice for lolita fashion, but I think it would definitely work.
Corsets: Wearing an underbust corset over a blouse is an easy way to make an outfit even more dramatic and over-the-top.
